Okay, so for those of you that were on the western leg of the fairs, I know you're probably expecting some slightly random brainteaser that, while unusual and seemingly ridiculous, actually spurs on some great conversation and makes the day a whole lot more fun. I don't want to disappoint you, but this question is going to have a slightly different feel to it. Without any more preamble, here's my question:
As a admissions professional, our jobs require a large amount of commitment to both travel and office time. What things do you do to refresh yourself on the road? At home? How do you maintain relationships and community? What sort of things keep you alive personally so that you can be motivated professionally?
Can't wait to hear how you all weigh in on this one!

Okay, so I wasn't on the western tour (probably will next year), but I like the question, so I thought I'd weigh in.
I find when I'm on the road that reading is a huge factor for me. Obviously getting some Bible reading time is good. But also, I like to have a "recreational book" as well. And good music helps, which is why I need to buy an IPod. Or just bring a piano on the road.
and if you had an iPod, you could put audio books on it for double the fun (www.audible.com) or get an iPod video and watch a season of... what was that show you were watching in the van going to Kelowna that you had the whole season dvd?
I was on the western tour and discovered that reading the latest edition of "Us" magazine helped a lot. Especially the page the showed pictures of celebs being "just like us" and taking a drink at the water fountain or going for a round of golf, or (my personal favourite) picking up prescription drugs!!
But to be serious, I like to phone my parents. They help to keep me grounded and ask me silly questions like "What did you eat today?" and others that are not really directly related to work!
Ah yes, Arrested Development. I recommend it to anyone.
